Schengen Area

The Schengen Area is a common territory of states where people are not checked when they cross a national border.

The Schengen Area takes in a total of 26 states – 22 European Union Member States (Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Austria, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Other EU or EEA Member States (Bulgaria, Croatia, Ireland, Cyprus, Romania, Great Britain) are not members of the Schengen Area.
