Long-term visa

A long-term visa is issued for a purpose which requires the applicant to stay in the Czech Republic for longer than 3 months. A visa for a stay of over 90 days may be issued for the following purposes:

  • studying;
  • employment;
  • undertaking a business;
  • family;
  • invitation;
  • culture;
  • acceptance of a residence permit.

Depending on the purpose of a long-term visa and the complexity of the case at issue, the time limit for arrangement is generally between 60 and 120 days.

A long-term visa is awarded for a specific time, as corresponding to the purpose of the stay, but for a maximum of 1 year. The validity of a visa and a period of residence in the Czech Republic which is shorter than 1 year may be repeatedly extended on condition that the purpose of stay remains unchanged and the overall maximum duration does not extend the period of 1 year. You may apply for an extension at earliest 90 days and at latest before the period of validity or period of permitted stay in the territory expires.

If you hold a long-term visa, you may repeatedly exit and enter the Czech Republic.
