Intra-company employee transfer card

An intra-company employee transfer card is a special type of permit in the form of a plastic card with biometric elements that allows you to work and reside in the Czech Republic for a period of longer than 3 months. The card is only intended for managers, specialists or employed interns from non-EU countries who have been temporarily transferred from a multinational corporation outside the EU to a branch in the Czech Republic.

The time limit for issuing an intra-company employee transfer card is 90 days. The card is most commonly issued for duration of intra-company transfer. However, the maximum period of validity of an intra-company employee transfer card differs for the individual work positions for which it is intended. A card may be issued for managers and specialists for a maximum of 3 years and for employed interns for a maximum of 1 year. It is therefore a good idea to consider, especially for interns, whether it would not be better to modify the work position so that the intern can be employed on an employee card.

The validity of the card may be repeatedly extended according to the period of intra-company employee transfer, but for a maximum of 3 years for managers and specialists and a maximum of 1 year for employed interns; the card may not be extended once this time limit has passed. You must apply for an extension of the period of validity while the existing card is still valid, at earliest 120 days before the date on which its validity is due to expire.
